Oak Explorers
At Watery Lane Preschool, we believe children learn best through meaningful, hands on experiences. Our Oak Explorer Programme has been carefully designed for our Oak children, providing exciting opportunities to build confidence, independence and a lifelong love of learning through exploration, discovery and adventure.
Being surrounded by the beauty of our rural environment is a privilege, and we want every child to develop a deep understanding of the place they call home. Through first hand experiences, our children learn about the unique landscape, local wildlife, industries and the people who make our community such a special place to grow up. Exploring their local environment helps children develop a strong sense of belonging, pride in their community and an appreciation of how they can care for the world around them.
Our Oak Explorer Programme has been carefully planned to complement both the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and our bespoke curriculum, enriching children's learning through real life experiences that inspire curiosity and encourage them to become confident, capable learners.
Each half term, our Oak Explorers take part in a wide range of enriching experiences, including Forest School, Beach School and Farm School, where they develop resilience, problem solving skills, teamwork and a love of the outdoors. We also enjoy visits to local landmarks and places of interest within our community, helping children make meaningful connections between their learning and the world beyond the preschool gates.
Through every adventure, our aim is to nurture curious explorers who are confident, resilient and inspired to discover, respect and care for the world around them.
